Repo’s Last Show At Tampa Theatre Tonight at 7:30

December 9, 2008
repopostcardfrontsmWell, I’m tragic. Tonight is the official last show of Repo! The Genetic Opera at Tampa Theatre, which means it’s the last show in the entire state of Florida for the whole month of December. It’s been so much fun having cool, quirky Repo! fans invade Tampa Theatre. There have been some amazing costumes (along with some incredibly bizarre ones – http://www.digibug.com/tampatheatre) and everyone seemed to exit the theatre with a smile on their faces. That in itself made it all worthwhile.

For our “Farewell Repo!” party tonight, we’d planned to have this little group of incredibly talented street performers doing some improvised music, performance art and such. Well, that little group has just become 12 dancers (many of whom are performing in the Nutcracker at the Palladium this weekend), a trumpet player, a mandolin player, and a tambourine player. The’ve been working all weekend on several set pieces, and I can’t wait to see what warped imaginings they’ve dreamed up. Performers include the Fletcher Dance Project, the Jim Morey Band, and folks from GingerDead.com. On top of that, we’ve got a live concert on the Mighty Wurlitzer Theatre Organ before the show.

It’s going to be amazing, so if you’re coming to the show, make certain you get there early. Come early and strut your own brand of wierdness and I’ll be even happier. This is one last chance for Repo fans in Florida to hang out together, so I hope to see lots of folks there.

Indeed I do, Sandy! That’ll learn me to do updates at some insane hour in the morning. Thanks for catching that. Did you come to Repo? The last show was amazing, particularly the Jim Morey Band and the Fletcher Dance Project who opened for us. I’ve got video, but I just need to edit it a bit before I can get it uploaded. What a night!
